I had known that a journey, undefined, unpredictable, unimaginable was ahead; looming like the purple stripe of night acquiescing into day on the horizon. Now, just like the rising sun was creeping out over the crescent of the earth, my purpose was dawning as well. This emotion was so intense that my eyes began to tear and the salt of the wind dried even the faintest trace-remnant of worry. I left my eyes closed and listened to Al. He had wisdom beyond his perceived years and was comforting in his touch. He made me feel more secure than I have ever felt in my entire life and I at least knew to accept that. Maybe only for this moment, but Sigali had taught me to see the value of the moment for all its worth, be it good or bad or painful or freeing, all moments are to be valued since they are limited. Each offers gifts and opportunities to those who are willing to accept and appreciate them. Be it the glittery sparkle of fish scales on a slippery pier creating a jeweled celebration of daylight, or the simplicity of sharing a corn dog and lemonade with friends and strangers, or the worried breaths of a roommate battling disease shortly before they depart this earth, each moment is an integral part of life; and no moment of life should go unappreciated. I allowed my consciousness to stop my analytical thoughts and listen to this indeterminate being, since he and I both knew I was now ready.

About the Author
Lynelle Souleiel grew up in La Crescenta, CA. She attended California State University Northridge majoring in theatre with a minor in humanities. Prior to her current career as a police dispatcher in Las Vegas, NV she traveled working as an actor, magic assistant, dancer, and in television and film production as well. Lynelle still acts in a Las Vegas hit show.
