Kennedy and Daphne go into the bathroom to brush their teeth and wash their face. “Kennedy, make sure you use mouthwash for the extra freshness” says Daphne. Once Kennedy finishes in the bathroom, she goes to her room to get dressed. “I want to look pretty for Daddy” Kennedy says. She put on a princess dress with play shoes, Daphne tells her to change. Then she puts on the biggest tutu she can find with the shirt to match, Daphne says no. “Mommy, my dad said I am a princess, Princesses wear poufy dresses and heels” Kennedy says. “You are our princess but you know there are dress rules where daddy is” Mommy said “OK” Kennedy said with a sad face.
“I will let you pick out your own clothes, if you put something on that is not appropriate, mommy will have to choose OK” Daphne said “Ok mommy, and I will put on something nice” Kennedy said

About the Book
Little Kennedy is so excited to visit her father again. After she tries on her princess dress and a tutu, Kennedy’s mother finds something pretty for her to wear. Finally, they are ready to take the long car ride to visit her daddy!
When Kennedy arrives at the big building, she knows she cannot run around or talk loudly. When she sees her father, she is happy and sad all at once. Happy because she loves her daddy, but sad because she knows her visit will come to an end soon and she will have to say goodbye. Even though she knows her father must be punished for his bad choices, Kennedy hopes that one day, God will answer her prayers and bring him home to her again.
Kennedy’s Big Visit is the poignant children’s story about a father and daughter bond that is unbreakable, despite their unique challenges.
About the Author
Daphne Brooks was born and raised in Philadelphia. She graduated from Community College of Philadelphia and Drexel University, making her the first college graduate in five generations. Daphne lives with her daughter, Kennedy, in Philadelphia, where she is passionate about working with children with a wide range of challenges.
