About the Book

Play is all about having fun. It’s about skipping, running, and jumping. It’s about creativity, pretend, discovery, and imagination. It’s about learning to play with others or alone. It’s learning about nature. It’s about being physically fit. Play is for all kids and even mom and dad.

This rhyming picture book for children follows the colorful characters at the Play Academy as they build excitement through play. They construct castles, they play in the park, they ride their bikes, and they pretend to be truck drivers, judges, and more.

In All About Me and My Play Academy, author Audree V. Jones-Taylor, with illustrator Christian Boe, offers an engaging book that highlights the importance of play in all children’s lives.

About the Author

Audree V. Jones-Taylor is passionately committed to empowering children, youth, adults, and the community through play.

After 40+ years of public service, Audree recently retired as the Director of Parks and Recreation in Oakland to re-commit her life to service through sharing the value of play.

She believes there is always enough time for a person to study and work-but there is seldom enough time for a child to play. She sees a simple solution: Let our babies play so they will discover what they want to do, how they wish to act, and the best ways to be self-reliant when it finally is time to study and work.

This is Audree's second children's book with a focus on empowerment and play. The first one was All About Me and My ABC's, an enlightening and empowering ABC book for children.

Her lifetime dream is to open a Play Academy that will engage, empower, and encourage children to follow their innate capacity to play, explore and take risks.

Audree is available for consulting, facilitation and training on play-related topics, as well as recreation and park matters, programs and designs.

She received an undergraduate degree B.S in Business Administration from the University of Redlands, and a graduate degree from Saint Mary's College of California in Leadership for the Arts. M.A A resident of Oakland, California, she is married, and has two adult children.
