It was a night that no one will ever forget. All of the village people were on the north harbor jetty looking south. It was a spectacle never seen before. The whole southern sky was lit-up by the remnants of a typhoon that just recently was downgraded to a tropical storm. Constant lighting strikes made the night sky look as if it was daytime. Strong breezes were whipping up the waves, and crashing against the southern jetty. With seafoam spraying everywhere and the lighting in the background, the villagers were looking at one eerie but beautiful scene.
“Have you ever seen something like that?” yelled a man standing next to Yuri’s father “This is so beautiful!”
Yuri’s dad answered “Yes it is. Yet, I am so glad this harbor has protection, because this storm would have destroyed our fishing boats without it”
“You’re right, you’re right” agreed the villager.

About the Book
Adventurous young pup Nu lives with his family and friends near the sea. He was the biggest puppy in his parents’ litter—and a favorite among the townsfolk—but as he grows, he becomes more and more curious about far away places. Lucky for him, his parents have some advice, especially his father, Tosa Inu, who was once a dog on a fishing ship.
After some consideration, Nu makes a decision to travel to America, also known as “The Land of Endless Doggy Biscuits.” He had an excellent upbringing, filled with lessons on social etiquette and—most importantly—how to always find food. Still, he knows this knowledge won’t be enough to succeed on his long journey, so he talks to Big Husky, his grandfather.
With all the assistance he can find—and some help from divine powers, too—Nu sets off on his perilous journey, proving that a good education, good parents, and some luck are necessary ingredients for success in life. It just goes to show that the final outcome of any situation almost always depends on how well we prepare before hand.
About the Author
Linh Giako was born in Vietnam in August of 2006. That same year, she was brought to the United States. She prides herself on being a straight-A student.
