Then Chauncey's mother looked around and in a whisper inquired to Chauncey ... "Do you have a dish washer?" A wide grin spreads across Chancey's face as he responds with ... "We don't need no stinkin dish washer"; and then placed his dinner plate on the floor. As soon as the plate hit the floor the dogs lunged at it and in a blink of an eye had it licked sparkling clean. Chauncey then leaned down, picked up the plate, flashed it in front of his mother (showing how perfectly clean it was) and then placed it back in the cabinet, with all the other plates.

About the Book
After little Chauncey is born during a snowstorm in December 1947, he grows up in New England where he dutifully carries out his chores, acts sick to avoid school, and watches science fiction and monster movies on his family’s only black and white television.
As Chauncey’s coming-of-age journey continues, he matures into a teen always searching for independence. After he decides to camp with his best friend, an unpredictable chain of events soon leads him to spend the night alone at a campsite located entirely too close to an anthill and too many scary noises. As his path leads him into the military and marriage during the 1980s, Chauncey sees the world through the eyes of a young GI. Finally as he settles down with his wife on the outskirts of a New Mexico town, Chauncey soon realizes that his worries will never end—only change with his experiences.
Chauncey shares a compilation of short stories, with a humorous twist, about the life of a baby boomer growing up in America during a time of great change and progress.
About the Author
Rick Hoey is a baby boomer, Vietnam veteran, retired military man, and night school college graduate. He and his wife of almost forty years, Connie, reside in La Luz, New Mexico. Chauncey is his first book.
