Luke the Little Lost Llama

It was a beautiful fall day, and Luke was
looking forward to a great adventure all
morning. He wanted to see everything—
flowers, people, and other animals.
Luke’s mama was the lead llama, but
Luke was at the end of the line of llamas,
after Granny Llama, who was called G.
(This was because it was his first trip.)
When Luke looked up, no one was there—
not any of the llamas or even people.
Luke ran, trying to catch up, but he
didn’t see the llamas.
The sun was getting low in the sky, and it
grew colder.
Luke didn’t see his friends. He was tired
and hungry, and he wanted to go home.
Suddenly Luke heard a beautiful sound.
Just then Luke heard a big noise.
There were more loud noises.
Luke thought there might be hunters
shooting at the elk.
Bang! Bang!
Then Luke looked up and saw a
huge snowball coming toward him.

About the Book
Little Luke was born on a llama farm in the mountains of Colorado. His ears are long and curved, like bananas. His tail is short, woolly, and soft. On the day of his first trip with the pack of llamas, Luke gets distracted by a rattlesnake.
When he looks up, everyone is gone; they’ve left him behind. Luke wanders the mountain searching for his pack, meeting an array of creatures during his journey. He eventually finds a herd of unfriendly sheep. When there’s an avalanche, Luke smartly helps the sheep get to safety. Once they are rescued, Luke discovers he’s earned himself a new job.
