"Harry The Very Hairy Hare" is a book that is intended to teach kindness, respect, compassion, and forgiveness to others. These are increasingly important traits to instill in our children at a young age. The central theme of this dynamic book is understanding that we are all different and we can make the positive choice to treat others with kindness and respect despite these differences. Sadly, we are in an age where many children experience bullying in a variety of forms. Words have the power to either uplift or destroy the way a person sees him or herself. As responsible adults, it is paramount that we enlighten and educate our children to be responsible for their words and their actions. "Harry The Very Hairy Hare" uses playful and unique situations to emulate important character traits we should continually strive for in our own children. As the story progresses we can understand how and why Harry feels about himself and it is nearly impossible not to have empathy for him. Harry clearly demonstrates that his actions and words go hand in hand toward an uplifting culmination for all to be inspired!

About the Book
Harry grows up a happy rabbit with lots of friends to play with. As he gets older, a funny thing happens. Harry gets hairier and hairier until his friends start making fun of him. They taunt Harry for being different, and he soon feels like he has no friends at all.
Then, something terrible happens to Henry the hare, and “hairy” Harry comes to his rescue. Despite his friends being mean, Harry chooses to be kind and helpful. His actions make the other rabbits realize it doesn’t matter what they look like, but it does matter how they treat each other.
Sadly, many children today experience bullying in a variety of forms. Harry: The Very Hairy Hare is about overcoming bullying through kindness and acts of love. We’re all responsible for our words and actions, so instead of being cruel, smile, share a kind word, and do a good deed.
About the Author
Dan Wohlleber grew up in Neenah, Wisconsin, and earned his degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He began his thirty-year teaching career at a small K-8 district in northern Wisconsin and became the athletic director, coaching a variety of sports until his retirement in 2018. Dan is married and has two children.
