“Can I ask you a question?” Violet asked. Chris gave a nod as he pulled rhythmically on the oars. “Why did you want to spend time with me?” Chris focused on pulling the oars a few more times, giving him a few moments to think before he answered. “I wanted to because,” he paused for a heartbeat to collect his thoughts, “it’s been a long time since I’ve had a friend, a true friend. A friend to whom I can talk to like I’m just the same as everyone else. I enjoy being around you. You’re funny, compassionate, and a very hard worker. Most people your age are all about pleasing themselves. You, you’re constantly trying to please others.” “I’d like to be your friend too. You aren’t like anyone I’ve ever known before either. I guess I’d picture someone who has led a life like yours, to be snobbish; someone who shuns everyone else because you felt that you were better than they were. You aren’t like that at all. I mean,” she pointed back to her house while giving him a demanding look. “Who mows the lawn at a place they’re staying at just to save the owner time, so she can do something like this?” She swept her arm back to the lake, indicating their ride. “So,” he stopped rowing and held out his hand. “Friends?” She shook it and nodded. “Friends,” she agreed.

As for Chris, his world is turned upside down when he meets Violet. Will he listen to the still quiet voice of God, or will he let his sinful nature blind him to what God has planned for his future.
Coming Home is a tale of trial and uncertainty, but it is also one of love, hope, and most important, faith. Trust that God will let you know who the right person is for you. You just have to listen and have faith.
