Her grandmother Rosa was always teaching Champona traditional things. And noticed how strong her arms were. Grandmother Rosa would tell Champona someday you will help lots of children. Many children will be calling your name . Champona did not know why grandmother would say that and would keep helping Grandmother Rosa prepare food for the workers on the ranch. For breakfast, her grandmother would make her hot chocolate with a piece of cinnamon stick and pan dulce. A sweet roll with sugar sprinkled on top it. She liked to watch the bread bake in the oven and enjoyed all the delicious smells the rising bread produced.

About the Book
Fourteen-year-old Champona dreams of going to college and studying journalism but fears her dreams will never come true. Even so, her grandmother Rosa tells her that someday, she will help lots of children and that they will call out her name.
Every day, Champona must deal with a bully at school. His name is Billy Bollen, and he picks on her and on many other children. All of them are afraid to say anything to teachers or parents, fearing that things may get worse. But when the coach at school gives her a special pair of boxing gloves, Champona finds she has the strength to stand up to the bully and to make her part of the world a better place for everyone.
This story for young readers presents an anti-bullying message designed to inspire children and young adults to stand up for themselves against bullying and become heroes in their own right.
About the Author
Yolanda Quesada was born in San Antonio, Texas. She is one of twelve children, six boys and six girls. Her family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when she was young. She has always been moved by the bullying that occurs in society. She currently lives in Wisconsin.
