Ol’ Buffalo Hunter

In the summer of 1848 I was a buffalo hunter on the plains of the western United States, and had a very traumatic encounter when an old bull buffalo turned the tables and successfully hunted me.

I was then given the assignment to search, find and share the Secrets of Success in written format with my fellow man.

This simple sounding challenge proved quite the elusive undertaking. Successful people, by and large, cannot clearly explain their success; myths, clichés, ego and other factors interfere. But your reading of these words is proof that the mission was successfully completed even if at the eleventh hour. In the pages that follow success is demystified and simplified, my humble gift to you. Many are the contributors and specific credit is given when known.

To be a successful author the normal route is to first gain recognition through outstanding success and name recognition through your expertise in your profession or else through public notoriety, then publish. Then publish follow-up sequels, as many as the market will bear and sustain. I have already departed so there will be no sequels. What I have to offer is presented in one offering only. I am a firm believer that a self-help author should deliver the whole load in his first (and in this case, his only) trip.

Hopefully you can focus on the content within the book and let it stand on its own merits.

A celebrity spokesman may have no expertise to justify products he is hired to endorse and represent. What makes a movie star or a ball player, a competitive swimmer, or tennis player a qualified expert on purchasing automobiles or other products? Granted they are more interesting and entertaining than the stuffy PhD engineer from the lab. But that is high priced and questionable quality entertainment and advice.

The process is simple and easy to understand and apply, but not without effort or work. The dictionary is not the only place where success comes before work but effort is required. It is said that effort is not work unless there is something else you would rather be doing. This is why you will see ample reference to following your heart love. Success is simple, it just isn’t easy. Merely reading words will not suffice. You will be amazed at how simple it is and how easy it is to get started.

There are thousands of authors – past and present- who have authored a multitude of books, articles, seminars. Catchy titles and promises: Law of….; Secret of….; 7 Steps….; 14 Principles…; 25 Tips…; etc. Each purporting to be THE answer you are missing. The missing piece to the puzzle that you have been searching for, the catalyst that propels you into success orbit. Ranging in price from $5 to $50,000 and up.

Why is this book different? What claims are made? Promises offered?

Desmond Morris wrote in his book, The Naked Ape, that there are 193 species of ape on the planet , 192 of which are covered in fur. You and I are members of that 193rd species…the hairless ape….the naked ape… MAN. We are gregarious. We live in caves which we construct and group into sub divisions or apartment buildings. Our farm tractors are satellite and computer guided and plow furrows for thousands of yards to within mere inches or centimeters in accuracy while the farmer is encased in an air conditioned cab with his cup of coffee and hi-fi music of his choice.

Yet amid all this wonderment we have many who are feeling confused and frustrated that they are not achieving their potential rewards and satisfaction.

Untold thousands of books and audio/visual courses have been produced by as many authors, each proclaiming to have the “secret” ingredient that you have been missing, the “key” to unlocking your future success.

Many of these authors have produced sequels to further your quest. These published works and

seminars also range in price from $5 to in excess of $50,000. It is not the raw cost that is the controlling

factor, but the value received as obtained from the benefit to cost ratio.

The most challenging problem in the world today is the distribution problem, not the supply problem.

We have the brain power and the requisite materials, but they are not evenly distributed around the

globe. Scarcity is not a nature problem, but a man made situation. That is why you see starvation and

obesity occurring within proximity of each other. Abundance and lack, existing side by side. Why nation

absorb and apply. I even typed the manuscript myself and I probably qualify as one of the world's

slowest typists, never having had a single minute of typing instruction. So you are free to read at

This book was written in an unusual manner and fashion. There was no formal outline to follow, no

keyboard lasting at times in excess of nine hours, with no recall of what was typed until a copy was

printed for editing for grammar and spelling. I had been prompted by a heart-felt urging to act as a

channel for the ideas revealed by Gus through me to you.

I also have no formal religious training so I will not intrude on your religious beliefs. Rather, one hundred

sixty-odd years of Gus' personal experience and study are compressed and presented for your
