When two divers hear about the manatees and the dangers they are facing, they travel to Florida to see how they can help.
As they swim beneath the surface, the divers learn that the sea cows that feel like an elephant are incredibly curious and gentle creatures who love human companionship. As soon as the divers begin scratching a manatee, he rolls over on his back. But their fun-filled day is soon ruined as a careless boater speeds by, endangering the lives of the kind and charming creatures. Determined to help the manatees, the divers call on their friend, the Sawfish, who saves the day!
In this children’s picture book, the true nature of the sea’s most gentle creatures is revealed as they battle to save themselves from danger and live in peace, with a little help from their friends.
About the Author
Sandy Dimick worked as a dive master during college in the Virgin Islands and after college on dive boats in the Florida Keys and the Gulf of Mexico. Through her interactions with marine life, she witnessed the beauty, intelligence, and trusting nature of many marine species. Manatee Mania is her first book.
