About the Book
Buoy is a yellow dog who is super excited when his family packs up their car and heads to visit Colonial Williamsburg for the day. After they all arrive at the Governor’s Palace, Buoy follows an enticing scent that leads him through a garden gate and into a maze. Suddenly, he realizes he is separated from his family!
Luckily Buoy meets Dunmore the squirrel who promises to help him. While on a determined quest to find Buoy’s missing family, Dunmore leads the dog through Colonial Williamsburg on a colorful journey that highlights the beauty and historical significance of the former capital of Virginia that was once a city on the brink of the American Revolution.
In this historical story for children, a yellow dog enlists a new squirrel friend to help him search for his missing family that takes him on a fascinating tour of Colonial Williamsburg.

Sarah Barnes has been an elementary teacher and lover of children’s books for over twenty-five years. She currently lives in eastern North Carolina with her husband and illustrator, Kevin, along with their two sons. The Adventures of Yellow Dog: Buoy Visits Colonial Williamsburg is their first book together.
