One night Livi asked, “Why 'please' so much?", while getting tucked in bed.
Her mom climbed in, cuddled close and this is what she said:
“Not only do I love the word and find it very kind.
I know the more you hear me say it, the less it slips your mind.
Parents want their kids to be polite and we are teachers too.
To dad and me, it's as important as anything we do.
There is a little secret, Livi, we think that you should know:
Not only does it make others feel good, it will give you an inner glow.
Why don’t you test it out tomorrow, to see if it is real.
Say it all day, all the time, and then see how you feel.”
Then Livi said, “I’ll try it!” and her mom got up and kissed her...
And sure enough, when Livi woke, she said it to her sister.

About the Book
Little Livi Robinson thinks her mommy is funny. Although her mother forgets so many things like her money or the way to certain places, there’s one important word she always remembers to say.
Through her mother’s example, Livi realizes that the benefit of saying please goes far deeper than just having good manners.
