Introduction
Inside all of us are stories. These stories include our personality, our soul’s longing, our hopes and dreams, our mental and emotional expressiveness, and how our own personal reality is playing out. What are your stories? What stories would you still like to tell? Your palms hold the road map to these stories and to the rest of your life. You can think of your hands as extensions of your brain. The brain is more closely connected with the hands than with any other part of the body.
How you think and feel, and even the chakras or energy centers in your body reflect through your palm. By understanding how your “map” is reading, you can work with the information to make positive changes in your life in all areas: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Over time, your hands will reflect these changes.
There are three branches to palmistry. Chirognomy (pronounced keer-og-no-mee) relates to the study of the fingers, palm and thumb and how they relate to each other. For the purposes of this book, I will be guiding you in chirognomy and line type identification. There is also the study of fingerprints and palmar prints, known as dermatoglyphics, “derma” meaning skin and “glyphics” meaning markings. These represent the permanent and unchangeable aspect of your soul, your soul imprint. Finally, chiromancy relates to interpreting line formations, partly for predicting the future. By understanding the meaning behind the hands, we learn to recognize aspects of ourselves and how they reflect in our fingers and palms. This knowledge empowers us, allowing us to write our own stories and watch how they impact our future. Isn’t it time we moved past the old, untrue dogma that says “your hands tell you when you’re going to die?” It’s time that palmistry reclaims its place in history as the esteemed art and science it once was. During the Renaissance, palmistry was taught in universities throughout Italy. In fact, palmistry is so useful, specific and helpful, I have completely altered my life to share it with you.
The concept of archetypes became popular with the Swiss psychotherapist, Carl Jung who believed that we inherited certain traits from a collective unconscious. As these imprints become conscious, the idea is that we act out and exhibit them through our personality, or archetype. The tarot (pronounced tare-oh) has been around since at least the 15th Century. It is currently the most popular divination tool in the world, consisting of 78 cards divided into two sections, the Major Arcana, meaning “big secrets” and the Minor Arcana, meaning “little secrets.” Each of the cards depicts a picture that represents deeper truths layered in symbolism and meaning. The concept behind the tarot is that by asking questions to the cards, your higher self will attract the answer energetically as you draw forth each card in response to your question. The Major Arcana, consisting of 22 cards, represent the journey of life, or the archetypal influences that affect all of us. They were created to symbolically express particular traits of the psyche and all of them have positive aspects, even ones with “scary” titles such as Death or the Fool.
As a student of metaphysical studies for many years and as someone who likes to connect viewpoints and ideas, I’ve made a new discovery. I’ve discovered that the hands reflect the archetypes of the tarot and the Major Arcana. These archetypes have appeared in every single set of over 6,000 pairs of hands I’ve examined in my career so far. Are you a Magician, an Emperor, or the World? Join me on a journey of discovery and exploration. By knowing and understanding what the hands are expressing, and identifying our primary archetypes, we can access more clarity and mindfulness around specific themes we are working to master and demonstrate. This in turn helps us to be more joyful and fulfilled, by connecting us to our authentic selves, our true purpose and our full potential. When you know and really connect to your archetype, you can understand and balance your life from a whole new perspective. In other words, you don’t have to make yourself “wrong” anymore. You can embrace your authentic self and celebrate the aspects that make you “you.” Because you should be a celebration! You are a unique Being of Light who holds keys to living a life that only you can fulfill. It is my hope and desire that as you discover deeper truths about yourself, you will be inspired to take action to grow and evolve in your own consciousness. You deserve to live in total alignment with your authentic destiny and the world deserves to receive what only you can deliver.
Let me give you some examples on how to work with this information. Let’s say you are having a communication problem with one of your co-workers. As you read through this book, you’ll discover aspects of your own archetype and those of your co-worker’s. Perhaps you’ll recognize a challenging compatibility between you, which may help you relate to your co-worker through the lens of his/her archetype. If your intention is to connect with your co-worker you can begin to do exercises to strengthen his/her archetype in yourself. This process sheds light, understanding and appreciation for the way your co-worker functions, enhancing your communication and possibilities around your relationship. You can apply the same techniques to a romantic partner, a parent, a child, or anyone important to you.
While it is my intention that anyone may pick up this book and use it without any prior experience either in tarot or palmistry, I would like to point out that this material is also invaluable for the professional. Palmistry can interface with a wide range of other modalities and, complimenting or supplementing a variety of professional practices.
Now let’s go on a journey…
