My backpack got me in trouble today.
It all started during breakfast when my brother couldn’t find his shoes and my dad was searching for his recipe for Hoppin’ John. Baby Molly was spewing her cereal all over the kitchen trying to make me laugh. Really I don’t know how toothpaste got smeared on the inside of my brother’s shoes. Or even how his shoes jumped into my backpack, but I know he socked me on the arm really hard. Then Mom yelled from the bathroom, “Danny, do you know where the toothpaste is?”
“Toothpaste, cereal, Hoppin' John, Baby Molly is rocking on,” I whispered as I finished my breakfast.
