Once Quarter arrived at the zoo he knew right where to find Dime and Penny. At the entrance, the famous Make- A- Wish Fountain. This is where Quarter first met Penny. She had been wading her feet in its cool, blue water on a hot summer afternoon.
The memory of that day came rushing back. He remembered thinking, what beautiful, copper colored hair she had as the sun caught it just right. Then casually she looked up with a smile that reached her shimmering, blue eyes. “Hello officer, care to come in and cool your heels with me?”
“This is your lucky day.” Quarter replied with a grin.
Penny asked, “What’s so lucky about it?”
“Well, since it’s against the law to wade in this good luck fountain, I’ll temporarily forget this rule if you go out with me tonight?” She’s been his lucky Penny ever since.
