When I was a little boy, I'd sit next to my mom as she read one of my favorite stories to me. It made me feel special. It made me want to learn how to read. When I learned how to read, they didn't throw a party for me. They didn't have a parade in my honor. My reward was hearing a little voice inside of me that said, "You are a masterpiece."

About the Author
Author Todd Cole, an elementary school teacher, tells the story of one young boy who learns to hear his inner voice. He doesn’t get a parade or a party for learning to read; he receives the satisfaction that he achieved that amazing ability. He doesn’t receive a letter from the president of the United States for earning his Boy Scout badges, but he feels good inside. Eventually, this boy grows up to be a teacher who helps his students to hear the same inner voice that proclaims, “You are a masterpiece!”
