“Where am I?” I called out into the darkness, my voice echoing without end. Everything was blurry, and it was quiet. I began running to see if I could find someone to help me. I was barefoot and wearing just a white dress, that fluttered behind me as I ran, and my feet clapping against the ground. It was dark and foggy, and as I ran I saw an orange light in the distance. I began to chase it, then it multiplied, then it multiplied again as I got closer more and more lights seemed to appear. They were lined in a row and one to my left and the other row just to my right. Then I my feet suddenly stopped, as if they knew where I was before I did.
I looked around and through the fog I saw almost nothing I just saw shapes and shadows. I began walking about to figure out where I was, if I know where I am then maybe I can get out. I crept through the darkness my feet shivered with every step against that cold stone floor. Then suddenly I knew where I was, and I turned to run the other directed but just as I turned a creature with large blood red eyes lunged at me, I screamed.
My eyes shot open and I sat up in bed, feeling my surroundings and when I was comfortably able to place myself in my bed and relieved all my body parts were in order. I sighed turned to look at the clock, it read in bright green lights 1:48am. I sighed again and through myself back down onto my pillow. Still shaken up about the even that had happened in the parking garage, I ran my finger through my long hair as if just now just coming to terms with the situation. I didn’t even understand what it even was, nothing in the natural world like that ever happens. I could barely remember anything about the event, it was as if my mind had blocked it off. All I knew was it didn’t feel real, but I told myself that it was a rabid dog, it hopes that it would help me get over the incident and be able to just move on with the rest of my life. That what I should do, so I turned back to the clock on the night stand and it read 1:55 am. Then I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep when I hear my phone buzzing on the night stand next to me. I opened my eyes to see my bed bedroom illuminating with the light from my phone.
I rolled over on my side to grabbed it, squinting I tried to read what was on the screen, but the light was to bright and blinding me. So, I throw off the blankets and turn on the lamp on my night stand. Patiently waited for my eyes to adjust and looked down at my phone. It was a text from Sebastian.
‘I am so excited to see you, I cannot stop thinking about you -SB.’ This made me smile and suddenly forget about my dream. I replied, ‘I just saw you.’ I sat anxiously waiting for a responds, as I waited I began thinking back on all the times I’d seen Sebastian.
Starting from the time we’d met and he seemed like the last person in the entire world to ever be interested in me. I mean every time we saw each other something went wrong and one of us ended up bleeding, and usually that someone was him. After all the times that I’d hurt him he still wanted to go out. Just then my phone vibrated in my hand I blushed as I read his response.
‘I know, and I have already been away from you for far too long.’ I sat with warm cheeks enjoying the butterflies in my stomach that I never thought I would feel again since Michael. I didn’t even know what to say back, lucky I didn’t have to because my phone chimed again. I looked down at my phone, ‘I know we scheduled out date for next Friday, but I don’t know if I can wait that long. What are you doing tomorrow?’
‘I have to work tomorrow but the next I am free. Do you think you can wait one more day?’
‘That sounds perfect, until next meet Mrs. Jones’
‘Goodnight, Sebastian.’
I sat waiting for him to say goodnight back, but nothing ever came. So, I put my phone back on my bedside table and turned out the lamp and crawled back under the blankets. I closed my eyes and went to sleep with the heartwarming thoughts of Sabastian, in hopes of dreaming a better dream.
