“Kate!” Connor called out, hoping a girl nearby would look. A few looked, and a few didn’t. Connor was done waiting; it was time to call her name out. He ran in front of people, looking at their faces. None of the girls he saw were her. He sighed. “Where are you?” he said under his breath. Connor stood in front of the fountain. He felt tears running down his face, but he didn’t care if people saw him crying. He was in pain. Connor rubbed his forehead with his right hand. Something caught his eye: a little boy tossing a coin into the water of the fountain. The little boy made a wish. Connor thought, What if I tossed a coin into the fountain and made a wish? A wish to meet Kate again?

About the Book
While walking in Central Park, Connor is on the phone with Jake. While getting off the phone with him, he then bumps into a redhead. Her coffee spills all over his suit. After he grabs her hand to introduce himself, Connor feels an immediate spark with Kate. When he asks for her phone number, Connor never imagines the role that fate has just played in determining his future.
After Jake convinces him to call Kate, Connor is smitten after just one date. Estranged from his parents for six years, Connor is still reeling from feelings of abandonment and realizes Kate is just the girl he wants to walk beside him on a journey of healing. Kate, who has been heartbroken before, hopes that Connor is not like all the others. As they fall in love and imagine their happily-ever-after, neither has any idea that Connor will soon awaken from the strangest dream and realize the love of his life is just that—a dream. Now only time will tell how far Connor will be willing to go to find her and how much he is willing to risk to learn things he doesn’t want to know.
The Fountain is a beautiful tale of passion, love at first sight, and a young couple’s determination to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles in order to be together forever.
