About the Book

Parenting is a full-time job that can be both difficult and rewarding. Unfortunately, too many of today’s parenting experts and well-meaning friends and family shame, blame, and weigh parents down with what they feel is the right way to raise kids. The good news is that there are ways to manage children’s behavior while bolstering self-esteem, without utilizing punitive techniques. In a trusted guide, Joan Haley relies on her experience as a seasoned child and parenting educator to share practical skills and a step-by-step framework that uplifts, teaches, and empowers parents and caregivers to eliminate unwanted behavior, bolster self-esteem, and improve responsibility and autonomy in children. Through her professional insights and proven techniques, parents will learn how to guide the personal growth, self-awareness, and learning of their children by setting limits for health and happiness, implementing fail-safe rules, modifying the environment, and much more. Included in each chapter are worksheets and reflective exercises that reinforce the concrete skills. Creative Parenting Skills is a practical guide that provides parents and caregivers with the essential skills to manage behavior, bolster self-esteem, and guide children to become loving, respectful, and contributing adults.
