At first, it appears smooth, like a sinister gemstone glistening in the sky yet anchored to the earth. So immense is its weight that the ground has fractured into crevasses around it, a moat barring knights from a forbidden castle. I don’t know where it came from that morning. It appeared like a storm racing over the horizon, spawning a tornado in its wake. This entity is here now, undeniable and inescapable. Some have fled from it; others have tried to outwit it. But it doesn’t matter—this mass endures.

These stories sparked my imagination and suggested that a hidden world existed alongside our own. As an adult, I delved into the works of Stephen King, H. P. Lovecraft, and Edgar Allan Poe. Their tales of the eerie and fantastical expanded my appreciation for storytelling, inviting me to explore a parallel realm born of the imagination. Everyday oddities—a mouse scurrying through the house or a strange bird perched on a fence—stirred fleeting thoughts of this mysterious world. Through storytelling, we venture into this imaginative realm, whether sharing tales around a campfire, whispering stories with friends in the dark, or escaping alone into the extraordinary for a fleeting moment.
