The real estate business has been a life-long education for me. I learned from the ground up, and each lesson has been invaluable not only in my professional development as a realtor, but also in my additional roles as researcher, educator, adviser, and encourager. I believe my career has helped me to become a better mother, grandmother, friend, and colleague. My mistakes and failings, as much as my accomplishments and successes, help to define who I am, where I come from, and where I am now in my life.
Some occupations are straightforward and essentially the same, day after day and year after year. Not so in real estate! As you will see in the chapters ahead, my journey from entry-level position to business owner and eventually, an international consultant, has taken me around the globe in a quest to share my experience and acquired knowledge while continuing to learn new things that can be applied here in the U.S. From initially selling homes to the general public, I eventually developed a specialization for working with the aged population as well as those with special needs. If I had stopped learning after getting my realtor’s license, none of that would have been possible.
My career as a realtor resembles a beautifully woven tapestry. Anyone who has attempted needlework or painting on a canvas will agree that it can be difficult, to say the least. But most will concur that the end result is worth the effort. As I reflect on 46 years as a real estate agent, I imagine my life spread out like a tapestry of many colors. Some threads are dark, representing the challenges of getting started and dealing with difficult people and situations. Other tapestry threads are reminiscent of an artist’s palette, weaving bright hues through the background fabric of daily life to add a vibrant element, rich with meaning and joy. Pale colors, at first hardly noticeable until you look for them, symbolize life’s quiet but meaningful moments as we come to new realizations about ourselves or experience an epiphany about human nature.
I hope that you will find my realty-based life lessons in the chapters that follow to be insightful and encouraging. Everyone has a story to tell, and no two stories are the same. My experiences may broaden your perspective of a realtor’s career and guide you in the best direction for your future

About the Author
Born in Scranton, PA, Eunice Nicusanti has been a resident of N.J. for over sixty years, an award-winning professional broker/realtor for forty-six years. Her professional career and life journey provide a fascinating mix of Sales, Marketing, Philanthropy, and Consulting. Eunice’s expertise extends into residential and commercial real estate development. Many of the most successful realtors in the area began their careers under her mentorship as Owner/Broker of her real estate company.
Ms. Nicusanti is one who embraces life by her unyielding desire to help others. Eunice has served as the first President of Sales & Marketing Executives and then as an active board member for the Two Rivers Chamber of Commerce. She has hosted foreign exchange students who seek to experience a global perspective in their education.
Eunice has spoken out against age discrimination for the older individuals as well as being an advocate of the talents that older individuals possess. Additionally, she has donated time and energy to serve on Alliance, an advocacy group seeking alternative housing for children with physical and mental disabilities. As hostess of radio show Senior Options, she provided the community with information and topics ranging from senior housing to social issues. Pioneering the way for women in business; she created some of the earliest teaching seminars guiding women as they joined the professional workforce.
