Autumn would often leave her bed at night and stay in the barn. She would dress up in her Queen’s dress which she made out of some old curtains. She would also put a crown of straws on her head. The hay was her throne. Many nights Autumn would stare at the stars through the roof of the barn and dream she lived in a beautiful castle. The wind would lift her hair and as it fell upon her back swinging from side to side, she would feel a chill. She would sing the most beautiful songs to the stars.
The next morning her grandparents would ask her how she slept. Although they knew she did not sleep in her bed. And she would reply, “I had the most awesome dream!” But this was no ordinary dream. No not at all. This was a special dream she said gazing into the distance. The kind that you dream when you are awake and your eyes are wide open. The dream that you control with a crown on your head and a smile on your face.

About the Book
Queen Autumn rules over the peaceful Jungle Land. She lives in a beautiful castle and is loved by all. But sadly, there is one thing missing from the queen’s life. She wants a daughter more than anything.
One day when the queen receives word that an elephant is stomping angrily in the jungle and frightening the other animals, her loyal subjects try their best to scare the elephant away, without any success. When the interpreters summon the wisest one in the land to the castle, the seven-year-old orphan, Maya, agrees to find a solution to the problem. Will she be successful and finally realize her dream, and will the queen ever find the daughter she wants more than anything?
Legend of Jungle Land is the story of an orphan girl’s journey to restore peace to the land after an animal kingdom is disrupted by an angry elephant.

Safiya Wilcox has been writing since she was in fourth grade. She loves using her imagination to create stories with morals for her children. This is her first book.
