This is a story that follows the lives of a family of turtles. Our tale begins with us meeting a girl turtle. This girl turtle lived in the deepest, scariest part of the Dark Forest. Here, she would wander along, foraging and doing her girl turtle things in the cold, bitter darkness.
One night, the girl turtle bumped into what she thought was a rock. As she peaked out from within her shell, her eyes met the gaze of another. She quickly closed her shell again, leaving a sliver to see through. What she saw, made her feel warm inside. It was a lonely boy turtle, smiling back at her.

About the Book
In the deepest, scariest part of the Dark Forest, a girl turtle lives alone. She wanders and forages by herself—until one day when she meets a lonely boy turtle. They feel safe together, so they decide to be friends and protect each other. Then they fall in love and have three turtle babies.
But over time, the shadow of the Dark Forest changes the turtles. They argue and grow frustrated and bump their shells. Then one day the girl turtle hides away. The boy turtle doesn’t understand what is happening, so he sets out to find answers from the Stones of Wisdom. It will be a long, hard journey, but soon he will discover that his family is about to face a big change. Now he must try to be strong and do his best to help the girl turtle and their three turtle babies.
Intended for parents and children alike, this story offers a gentle way of discussing the issues surrounding family separation through the tale of a family of turtles.
