Lilac skies of broken hearts,
‘Cause the lines don’t always meet;
Then someone departs.
Tell me how all the heat
Began burning in this hallway.
While I left,
You went your own way.
Letters of post-it notes,
Sincere thoughts, and comforting warmth
Yet the lies come forth.
Once again left in the dark,
My heart is sold.
These tears have told.
The fire burns out, and these words don’t come out.

At some point in our lives, we all experience the joys of loving another, the anguish of losing someone, and the subsequent personal growth that follows a break-up where we learn to ride the emotional waves and nurture hope for brighter days ahead.
In her first volume of poems, Arden H. shares verse that explores lust, love, and heartbreak that lead others not only into her diverse experiences, but also her heart. As she offers insight into what it is like to embrace love, lose love, and wander without answers when a relationship ends, Arden also reminds us that it is possible for a vulnerable heart to be strong, hopeful, and open.

About the Author
Arden H. was born and raised in Southern California. After graduating from high school, she joined the marines which enabled her to travel. Her passions are writing and giving back. Waves of Emotion is her debut collection of poems.
