How do I keep myself safe? Bella is the oldest and says
“I keep my hands where I can see them!”
Getting in and out of the car I keep my hands at my sides! Bella points to the car door and then looks at her hands and says, “my hands are at my side and safe from getting trapped!”

When I go out the door where do I keep my hands? At my sides! Bella points to the sliding door and says, “my hands are at my side and safe from getting pinched!”
Grownup says, “great job Bella! Hands are very important I am so happy you keep your hands safe! What about in the bathroom? Where can fingers get pinched?
What are all the fun things you do with your hands? Hold cookies? Pick flowers? Pet puppies and kittens? Hands are very handy!

About the Book
Bella, Fin, and Daisy are learning to keep themselves safe. This is important because injuries are common for young ones, but mishaps can be prevented. Bella, Finn, and Daisy practice important protective behaviors like sitting safely in their car seat, being careful around hot things such as stoves and fireplaces, holding a grownup’s hand near a street, and much more.
Helping to instill protective behaviors from a young age, this picture book helps children build self-confidence and learn how to help keep themselves safe as they grow and explore the world around them.
Combining physical movement and vocalization exercises that allow children to learn and increase behavioral reliability, Bella, Finn and Daisy illustrate how to do this so children can practice pointing and calling with them and can be encouraged by their grownup—all while having fun.
About the Author
Rebecca A. Timmins has spent thirty years implementing behavioral change systems and safety leadership development for organizations both national and global across industries—all focused on reducing exposure to injury and protecting people. Her mission is to help build protective behaviors across all age groups and help everyone keep themselves safe. Timmins lives in the Northwest with three Golden Doodles—Bella, Finn, and Daisy.
