The horizon was still visible. The sailing master took his lunars with one eye spinning it its orbit looking for Penderghast or one of his unperceivable minions. Will he be next? What about the souls aloft? The wind could sweep them away and who'd be the wiser 'til the next watch was called?
Gone were the days when we feared the fatal knout or the neck stretched. Instead a more potent fear has swallowed the ship whole.
Liberty cannot come soon enough though will it come at all? Will the caption grant it in light of this strange happening? Who would remain onboard after three men have miraculously vanished from its decks? If a storm turned us over, it couldn't be worse than the invisible enemy that now stalks us. What will the chaplain say on the following Sabbath morning? What answer could he possible give for this?

About the Book
It is 1832 as the USS Hayes sails the Indian Ocean, guided by its lord and master, Captain Gellins. Meantime a shipmate is wrongly accused of stealing and faces the fatal lash. Likewise, he is just one of many who have been accused of false charges: others who have already met their end at the gratings; all from the lies supplied to the captain by shipmate Penderghast. Who can tell what will happen if certain other shipmates take the law into their own hands to try and right this injustice.
And if the plot succeeds, what may follow?
The Voyage: Part I is the tale of a young sailor’s journey as he becomes embroiled in events beyond his control and through an act of sacrifice ironically unleashes an ancient curse.
