The bottom of the dark clouds opened, and a hard-blowing rain started. She tried to keep going. At times, she stumbled. At times, she fell. She was covered in mud. A limb reached for her T-shirt and tore it. A piece of the shirt remained on the limb. She pressed on. She slipped and fell into a large mud puddle. As she crawled out trying to regain her balance, she leaned against a small tree, which bent over causing her to fall again. That time, it was different. She slid down a long hill into water in the ravine that was almost a foot deep. Cary felt the tug of the water wanting her to go with it. She started crawling. She felt something huge in front of her. From what she could guess, since she couldn’t see, it was a huge log or tree with branches. With her last ounce of strength, she climbed on top of the tree and held on for dear life.
