About the Author

Cynthia R. Zeldin is a psychotherapist and life coach. She grew up in Ozone Park, New York and later moved to Indianapolis where she raised her family. Now she lives in Atlanta—not far from her family—with Lily Tova her therapy dog. Cynthia stays busy as a member of The Temple in Atlanta where she is on the board and leads several social justice groups. She teaches classes at Emory University and plays golf regularly. Some of her favorite times are spent with Lily Tova, volunteering in schools, nursing homes, libraries and homeless shelters. Together, Lily Tova and Cynthia perform acts of loving-kindness, the most fundamental Jewish value.

Having met the real Lily Tova and watched her in action especially with children, it is very special to see her wonderful owner, Cindy, share her story with others. Cindy and Lily Tova's warmth shines through in the pages of the book. And it's wonderful to see such diverse representations of the people in the book's illustrations, representing the diversity of communities they connect with. This is a sweet story about a very special dog and her very special human.

Best children's book I've read! Lily Tova the Therapy Dog is a great statement on the most fundamental aspect of being human – engaging in acts of kindness to others. The book has wonderful illustrations that accurately portray ethnic diversity, gender, the elderly, the health care profession, happiness, and kindness. Reading the book to children or using it to help them learn to read is a great way to supplement the teaching of the virtues of tolerance and perseverance in the face of challenges. As for challenges the book addresses the social aspects of the COVID pandemic in a manner children can easily grasp. The book is a testament to what one person and a therapy dog can accomplish in the complex, challenging world we now live in. Kudos to Cynthia Zeldin and Lily Tova! I happily give Lily Tova the Therapy Dog my highest recommendation!

This is a heartwarming true story about the dedication Lily Tova the Therapy Dog shares with her owner Cindy to brighten the day of everyone she encounters, be they the neighbors she greets on her walks, the children who read to her at school, or the sick and lonely she encounters in her therapy dog work. Lily Tova also teaches us that in the trying times of this pandemic of Covid, even when you feel isolated, you can still reach out and help others. Little children will love the colorful illustrations and children of all ages will love reading about Lily’s playful antics as well as her many acts of loving kindness.

What an absolute delight! Heartwarming, while delivering a message about how we all can make a difference in the life of others. Great story for nighttime reading. Sweet dreams await a child who's read or listened to a story about love, kindness, and giving to those in need. It is love, hugs, and kisses all gifted to a child in the form of a book.
