This is one book with two stories.
The first story is about a schoolgirl named Lucia. The second story is about a schoolteacher named Gabrielle.
Lucia and Gabrielle lived in the same city. Lucia lived in the east side of the city. Gabrielle lived in the west side of the city.
Lucia and Gabrielle were in different schools. They did not know each other.
What they had in common was that their schools had “Spring Break” the same week. During that week, they both cared for, loved, and wanted to own a little dog.
What Lucia and Gabrielle would also come to have in common was having to learn about losing, finding, keeping, and not wanting to give up something they both desired very much – which was “Roxy.”

About the Book
Lucia is so excited to travel with her family for the Spring Break vacation. But after she leaves her beloved dog, Roxy, in her aunt’s care, the furry family member decides to take matters into her own paws and escape from her temporary home.
Gabrielle is a teacher who lives in another section of the city. As her Spring Break begins, she and a friend decide to take a walk in a park. When Gabrielle and her friend see something moving in the middle of the park lake, they soon realize it is a small dog and rescue it. But when their attempts to reach the owner fail, Gabrielle cannot help but quickly fall in love with Roxy. When Lucia learns that Roxy has disappeared, she is heartbroken. As Lucia learns what it is like to lose something she loves, Gabriel discovers how much she has gained through her feelings for Roxy. Will the little dog ever find her way back home?
In this real-life scenario, a girl and a teacher learn valuable lessons about love, loss, and doing the right thing with a little dog.
