Roulette I’ve lived in every decade— The music, The experiences, The colors, The friendships, Birth, Coming of age, Marriage, Death. You see black and white, And I see burgundy and chartreuse. I see hues beyond the elements That remind me of a day, That remind me of a time. You feel pain; I feel desire. The forces that be Push me To live life to the fullest Even when I’ve felt That I’ve lived a full life. Zero Debt to Society My thoughts on a constant Mission. The cleaners found out, And shot down my ideas. Wrapped them in plastic, Bleached my dreams, And threw them Away. Killing Yves, Blood on their hands. They felt no Guilt. I woke up And suddenly felt The sharp pains And looked at myself In the mirror. And reminded myself To live freely, To not let anyone Shame me.

About the Author
Janna Yves grew up with a supportive family in a large community-based town but was also sheltered around the same people. She attended the same school until high school, which opened up that world to new life situations. However, at the age of 12, the rise of social media and technology transformed her life and the lives of the generations born after 1996. In high school, she became an event promoter, concert enthusiast and enjoyed observing life from the outside. She still maintained social appearances, leadership positions and had decent grades. Her college years consisted of living a mature adult life while taking courses. Currently, she is a fine art muse and avid role model in all her communities. She lives by the motto, "No one is you, and that is your power."
