Asor the Butterfly

Sonny Bellows was born with one arm and he was treated like he was handicapped. Handicapped means having a physical or mental condition that limits a person’s movements, senses, or activities. Sonny was limited in most of these things and his mother knew it, so she chose to protect him, maybe a little too much. One day Sonny was outside in the backyard playing as usual by himself, and running around near the flowers. Oh, it was a beautiful backyard, full of all kinds of plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers. It was also an attraction for butterflies, birds, caterpillars, and grasshoppers, too.
While Sonny was running around there was a beautiful bright yellow and black-trimmed butterfly following him everywhere he went, up or down and all around, as he was running and playing. Suddenly Sonny had to stop and take a deep breath because he was getting a little tired. He decided to get a glass of water and rest on the patio chair near the table. As he was resting, he saw something flickering on the side of his face. It was flickering and weaving all around until finally it stopped right in front of him, looking up at his face with big, wide eyes. It surprised Sonny. It was a beautiful butterfly that seemed almost human-like, having big eyes with fluttering long eyelashes. The butterfly startled little Sonny so much that he spilled his water. Then, the butterfly spoke, “Be careful Sonny, you’re spilling your water!” Sonny looked and sure enough he did spill his water and quickly with the one hand, he picked up the plastic cup to keep the rest of the water from spilling completely. Though still a little stunned about this talking butterfly, Sonny said “Hey, how did you know my name? And what’s yours and where did you come from?” Asor was only too happy to answer. “My name is Asor. I come from a place far, far away.
