Buster Sluggless was the meanest slug in the garden. Gastropods near and far feared him, and were always looking over their shoulders to see if he was there. Wait a minute. Do slugs even have shoulders?
Anyway, you know what I mean. He was a rude, crude, shrewd, slimy dude, and vile as the dickens. Buster Sluggless’ favorite thing to do to other slugs was to tie their upper optic tentacles together. How does a slug tie anything you ask? Well, that’s a mystery, but he did. Just trust me.
Buster would smirk behind his whopperjawed rows of stained yellow teeth. Yes, slugs have teeth, thousands that line their radula. There are a lot of things you probably don’t know about slugs.
Another one of Buster’s mean tricks was to stuff dirt into the breathing pores on the sides of other slugs. He would sneak up from behind, shove a handful of soil into each pore, guffaw loudly, and scooch off leaving a trail of his nasty, stinking slug slime behind him. Again, how does he shove handfuls of dirt anywhere if he doesn’t have hands? Stop asking questions and enjoy the story.

Mr. Wollam has been a third grade teacher for 15 years. He has always told his students when he grew up he wanted to write children’s books. Well, he must finally be grown, because here is his first book. Garrison has an Early Childhood bachelor’s and Educational Psychology master’s, both from Kent State University. He also has two children of his own, so he considers himself an expert on what children enjoy. Buster Sluggless meets that mark.
