One day, Mimi and Auntie took C.W. and his cousin ,LaLa, to the zoo. They saw turkeys, lions, deer, monkeys and giraffes. They fed them lettuce. C.W. said, "GOOD GRIEF! They have long, long slobbery tongues. I bet they get tired of lettuce. Probably they like steak, potatoes too." They rode the Merry Go Round two times. It was so fun. When it was time to leave, C.W. wanted a toy from the gift shop. Mimi told him, "NO", so he threw himself on the ground crying and screaming, "I want toy, I want toy, I WANT TOY." C.W. couldn't believe that Mimi just walked off and waited on him to get up. He was unhappy because he did NOT get a toy. When they got to the car, C.W. said to Mimi, " I sorry." She asked, "Did you make a good choice?" He said "NO, Mimi." She told him that he will not always get his way and throwing a fit is not okay. She told him she loved him and they would still have a good day.

About the Book
When C.W.’s mother goes into the hospital four hours away to have his little brother, he stays with his Mimi and Poopaw. Mimi and C. W’s aunt takes him to the zoo with his cousin. When C.W. throws a fit in the zoo, he realizes he did not make a good choice.
The next day when a big snowstorm suddenly hits Texas and the power goes out, C. W. and his Mimi must find their own fun. As they play games by candlelight and cook sandwiches in the fireplace, C. W. learns that making good choices is always better than making bad choices.
The Adventures of C. W. is the story of a little boy stranded at his grandparents’ house after a surprise snowstorm knocks out the power and provides him with a valuable life lesson about choices.
About the Author
Sandy Meeks is a retired teacher who loves to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her first children’s book, The Adventures of C. W., is inspired by her grandson who stayed with her and her husband during a snowstorm.
