From the beginning of time, our existence here on earth is spent searching for ways to quiet the restlessness of heart. Before birth we are quite content in the warmth and safety of our mother's womb. We abide in our life source and no outside element can harm us. When it's our time to announce our arrival, we do it by kicking and screaming as we are torn away from our chamber of well-being and comfort. Forced without permission into a cold, unfamiliar space, we cry aloud. A pacifier and bottle will appease for a short time but as we grow, those things that previously worked for our comfort no longer satisfy. Onward we go looking for new ways to calm the cry.

Our hearts are speaking. Rather, they are calling out and aching for something this world cannot fill by its way of existence. Making our way through this thing called life, exhausted and heavy, we realize the stabbing sting hasn’t been soothed by the things of this world. And while we go on looking for ways to quiet the cry of our heart, the truth is, it’s eternity that is urgently summoning out in each and every one us. The longing we sense is more than real yet the reality is for something far greater than this world can give. In all our striving to do and be the best, the heart is searching to be at rest and reconciled back to a place called home. This home is not just any place we lay our head but must be encountered through spirit and by faith. This place is where a royal family resides and sets their affection on loving and trusting their God. By the fruit of their lips and labor of hands, they worship God. It’s where a weary soul finds rest because it’s doing exactly what it was made to do; worship.
About the Author
Kelly Ely, at one time, lived her life like the rest of the world. But what others couldn’t see about Kelly was that her life was marked by confusion and sadness. Although she looked to others as being alive and well, Kelly was struggling on the inside. She felt empty and restless, wrestling with who she was and where her life was going. She felt a lack of control and what looked to others as poise and confidence, was really a cover up for anxiety and doubt. She felt alone in her struggles. Today, Kelly walks in freedom from that old way of living. She now lives in the hope that was given to her through her savior, Jesus. Kelly has been established in her new life and understands who she is, why she is here and where she is going. Her savior has graciously arrayed her in strength and dignity and Kelly is able to look ahead rejoicing without fear of the future. Her life is marked by hope, peace and joy. Her desire in life is to share with others the same freedom she lives in and it’s transforming power found in no other name but Jesus Christ.
