Matching Shadows There are things in life which are inevitable; I am powerless to control them. Take a look at the sunset, half moons glow, and full moons light up the night. Stars twinkle, while imaginary people brace for graveyard shifts. Life produces many unknowns, but the glory of life is on full display. Walking to my car, parallel reflections of me take form. No images and no words, just faceless mirrors duplicating traces of me; they emerge larger than me, like a specter or ghost. It’s creeping me out, so I pick up the pace; they keep pace without a shadow of doubt. Mocking every move, twisting when I turn and jumping when I hop. Finally, I made it to my car looking left to right and over my shoulder, but the twins were gone. Racing thoughts settle; and mufflers, trains, and crickets sounded throughout a quite town.
