Red Wine and Moonbeams
I hear her sing, words slurred.
She was such a mystery. The legacy of pain, strange and insane.
Unexplained.
Memories flood. I feel the heat in my blood.
Her voice echoes in my brain, “I remember the day you came.”
Her wave is imprinted.
Red wine and moonbeams.
I'm a rockstar with shattered dreams.
Realizations, resignations. Searched so high, searched so low
to piece together my history.
On the sand of my mind space, I hear the broken songbird sounds,
inhale the pungent smells, envision piercing blue.
Who were you?
The last time I saw her, the final goodbye. But I didn't cry!
Red wine and moonbeams.

Realizations, resignations. Searched so high, searched so low
just to know why I'll never know my history.
Tears stream as the sun gleams. I have no fight as drift off to sleep.

About the Book
Author Lissi Seneway has devoted her career to the study of the human condition. She seeks to tap into every emotion of her readers. Lissi believes that we have to feel to remember we are alive and that acknowledging our dark side can help us find life in the light.
Moonbeams and Melted Spoons presents a collection of raw, gritty poems that shed light on struggles that are often hidden and battlefields of wars often unseen; they invite you to contemplate and conceptualize the emotional carnage of shattered lives. These verses come from unique perspectives; the protagonists include veterans, survivors of sexual assault and child abuse, alcoholics, drug addicts, and people struggling with mental health disorders. The poems do not necessarily have proverbial happy endings, but in real life, many people with these types of experiences do find peace.
Giving voices to those who might not have found their own yet, this collection of poetry explores the battles faced by those dealing with addiction, mental illness, and trauma.
About the Author
Lissi Seneway is an internationally published poet who seeks to give a voice to those who have been affected by addiction, mental illness, and trauma. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida Atlantic University and a master of science in mental health counseling and addiction counseling from Nova Southeastern University. A licensed psychotherapist and internationally certified drug and alcohol counselor, she has worked in behavioral health for more than two decades.
