Mommy is sad and cries a lot. Momma is sad too. I am sad but I try not to cry. I want to be brave. Mommy and Momma tell me and my brother that crying and being sad are okay. They tell us that we all will have lots of feelings and we need to feel them. There will be times we are sad, or sometimes angry. There will be times we will be happy as well. Mommy told me it is good to laugh and play but it is okay if I am sad too. Sometimes when I am playing, I think about Grandma and it makes me sad again.

About the Book
A little girl has a special relationship with her grandma. She loves to go to her house and watch the squirrels and birds, including her grandma’s favorite, the red cardinal. When the little girl’s mother tells her and her twin brother that their grandma’s body is becoming tired, they share special time with her to say goodbye. As the girl and her brother attend church services and pray and sing with all of their grandmother’s friends and family, they soon realize that feeling sad is all part of accepting and healing after losing someone they love. I Miss Grandma is an inspirational story of unconditional love as little ones learn that it’s okay to cry, share memories, and even smile while grieving the loss of a loved one.
About the Author
Reverend Karen Wright is a Presbyterian pastor who has spent most of her career working with children and youth. She and her pastor wife are parents to young twins.
