We are all born with value. We all start out with a strong sense of self and knowing what we need and want out of life. (Look at any toddler throwing a fit about that candy you won’t get them.) But somewhere in time, some of us lose knowledge of the fact that we deserve to be happy and taken care of and, we begin to believe others are more important and have more value. We look at what someone else has- better looks, better car, bigger house, better job, the list goes on and on. When NOT one of those things can define our worth

We fight for things to help us fill that void. We don’t look within- we don’t look at ourselves and believe the best in us. No- instead we seek the approval of others. And we will never be full on the acceptance of another person. We will only find self-worth when we accept who we are and know in OUR hearts we are a good person and deserve to be treated with respect regardless of what others think or say.

And let’s be brutally honest for a moment- most people in life are NOT very accepting. They have conditions. It is rare to find people who will love and accept you for who you are – who will not judge your looks, your life, or your mistakes. So, when you do…. Hold on to them for dear life because they are RARE.

I wish for just a moment in time people could see the inside on the outside and then I believe the truth would be apparent. Those who appear to have it together- a perfect body, beautiful face, great house, job, etc--- how empty are they on the inside? And how many of those who try so desperately to be the best version of themselves, constantly giving and loving, how deep the love and commitment is in their heart. Unfortunately, the ones who struggle with feeling good about themselves tend to give the most of themselves because they don’t truly believe they are worthy to receive. They believe the lie- and it is a lie.

Self-worth can only come from inside. Only you get to decide how you can be treated. Only you get choose… and it isn’t easy. It hurts to let go of people. It sucks that you seem to be overlooked and not appreciated. It is painful… but knowing you deserve the best- YES YOU DO! Will make setting the boundaries easier. Everyone deserves to be loved and cared for and seen for who they are- who they truly are- not just the external, or social media view- but who they are at the core. We all have a soul and it is precious.
