Face the music of your making, The grams of images projected on the wall, built by inequality and greed Reinforced by the rightness of privilege. Wash the mirrors of your muses, cooped up in another neighborhood Thinking similar thoughts, of jumping out the window Fleeing your perfect selfie families. Bite the dust of your narrative, of living the dream Stay home with your children, and raise them for a minute Your soulmate watching in horror as you unravel. Gather all the skeletons, excised from a manic phase of spring cleaning. Your closets now bare and ordered Until the downer of packages arrive on speed dial from contact less delivery. Watch the daily update, choreographed by bit players in a tragedy of your choosing, Complicit in the demise of society and citizenship Voting each acquiescence through a prism of false hope that mankind is winning. Suffer this day, from a virus milder than racism, meeker than bigotry Novel and insidious, silent and deadly, no respecter of persons, Shared by a doomed race of beings, defiant, declining to live by the word.

About the Book
"A pocketbook of wry" is a third collection of poems from prolific poet/writer B. Germain. This set of 77 poems written under mostly pandemic protocol represents exploration both away from and back to rhyme - in new forms and cryptic styles. B. Germain has been studiously writing poetry now for 35+ years. Her voices befit her more comfortably as the years add up, while her comfort level with criticism adds a touch of joy to her craft. Surrounded by a bevy of muses and first readers, her primary inspiration is from the exploration of words and their evocative strengths.
