DETAILS ABOUT OUR “BODY” It is a scientific fact that our bodies do not remain the same, as time unfolds! Since humans are made up of matter, we have a zillion atoms (a technical term) residing inside of us, and they continue to evolve, alter and morph into something completely different all the time. By the time of our death, our bodies have 100% completely changed over and over again, many many times. This would mean your body is continuously changing, even as you sit here reading this book. This fact about the rejuvenation of the body was discovered in the 50s when scientists observed subjects after feeding and injecting them with radioactive isotopes. The body’s rejuvenation is why our skin flakes off, and nails and hair keep growing even after we cut them. Our DNA’s structure is probably the only thing in our body that remains constant from birth. When something “goes wrong” with that, the human body opens itself up to cancer. Deepak Chopra, an Indian-American author, and an alternate medicine expert emphasized in one of his talks how our body goes through many changes every day. The changes we all undergo are an ongoing unfolding process. We go through it daily, as a child grows inch by inch taller unknowingly. We clip our nails only to see them at the same length next week, as we drink water and flush it out of our body via perspiration or urinating. Most importantly, think about the fact that millions of cells die in our bodies every day and millions are “born” in replacement. Furthermore, the everyday processes of eating food, shedding waste, and using up energy (by our heart beating, walking, jogging, etc.), changes uncountable atoms in our body. It is safe to say that you will be an entirely “different person” when the coming year ends. If you are sitting here, wondering how you have changed so much over the years, remember that it is a natural and expected process. There are many stages we ALL go through in life . . . until death. It is the circle of life, and we can’t deny it. Deepak Chopra also spoke about the matter that makes up our bones and how it also goes through the same change process. The Greek philosopher Heraclitus stated that: “No man can step into the same river twice, because it’s a new man and it’s a new river.” He further elaborated that just as the river keeps moving and is never constant, the same is the case with the human body because it is also never stagnant. It moves, uses up energy, gets food, and some cells grow and some cells die throughout the day. With every breath we take in, we inhale some atoms from the environment (Oxygen), and in the very next second, we exhale some parts of our atoms into the environment (Carbon Dioxide). This further demonstrates one of the change cycles of the human body. Perhaps this is the reason for miraculous healings that are sometimes observed. There have been numerous cases where people were diagnosed with a fatal disease like cancer in its final stages. Doctors would state there is nothing that can be done, yet somehow, later results state something completely different, and the patient's body would have somehow “treated itself” and rid the entire disease from the system. Perhaps the constant change of atoms in our body contributes to this unexplained mysterious spontaneous healing. Although medical science today knows a great deal, not knowing how people “heal” solidifies the fact that our bodies are incredible and have abilities that we may not be able to fathom even in this era. We also do not know, what we do not know about Space and Time. Astrophysicists have told us that they are “comfortable” in being able to tell us how our Solar system will unfold in time. Although they do not know what gravity is, what dark matter is, what dark energy is, and are debating if the Universe is Expanding, or Expanding at an accelerating rate, or even whether it will reverse itself and will start collapsing . . . they are certain . . . that through the observation of many Stars: (That our nearby star) the Sun will fade out in 3 billion years and do it via a final “slowly expanding cataclysmic process”. More on this later. One can look at the human body as a vessel in constant flux; we grow and evolve until suddenly there is no life left in us. We succumb to death just as naturally as we evolve, because death too is a “natural” process. All these changes are just a part of life, a process that is slowly leading us towards death. The renowned author, Gail Sheehy, mentions in her book ‘Passages”, that: “Each of us stumbles upon THE major issue of midlife somewhere in the decade between 35 and 45. Though this can also be an ordinary passage with no outer event to mark it, eventually, we ALL confront the reality of our own death. And somehow, we must learn to live with it.” Truth be told, no one likes thinking about death. It is the BIG unknown. Many people believe in a religion, and each of these has a take on what happens. Some people do not believe in a “higher” authority. Here we will NOT wade into re-incarnation, near-death experiences being widely reported, life regression hypnosis-driven studies, going to heaven, purgatory, or the other place. If you are so inclined, we urge you to look into these . . . for they do offer concrete approaches to understanding and coming to grips with this thing called death.
