Hi, Jesus! What's happening? Is that any way to begin a conversation with God? For many of us probably not. I can think of God as being so holy and so far above us that to approach the Supreme Being in such an informal manner is nearly unthinkable. On the other hand, I know that God took upon himself the human nature in the person of Jesus. When I recognize Jesus as my fellow human friend or brother it seems only natural to speak with him informally saying, "Hi, Jesus! What's happening?" When I think of myself as living in the presence of God my choice is to have a conversation with him either in a formal manner or more informally as the situation or circumstance seems to be most appropriate.

About the Author
Roger H. Grummer is a pastor emeritus who has served congregations in North Carolina, Louisiana, and Texas. Following undergraduate studies at St. John’s College and Doan University, he earned a seminary degree from Concordia Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts degree in psychology and counseling from Nichols State University. He earned his doctorate from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. He also served as an adjunct professor with Concordia University–Texas, was a licensed professional counselor in Texas, and an on-call hospice chaplain. He lives in Colleyville, Texas, with his wife, Betty.
