Dove and Alfred were 2nd generation Martians. Their grandparents were astronauts who spent 20 Earth years on the dead planet of Mars. The one-year journey from Earth to Mars included bringing livestock like goats, rabbits, and even freshwater fish eggs. Once on Mars, they completed construction of a biodome in the canyons located between the ridges of Carbon Mountain and Mount Rocky near the equator and the Maven mini-magnetic field. Their knowledge included technical expertise and sciences. They brought everything they thought they needed to expand the colony on Mars. What they forgot to bring was the Christmas spirit.
Adam and Eve, the first children born on Mars, were taught all they could learn about science and technology, but almost nothing about Earth’s religions, mythology, or legends. As the Martian Years (MY) went by, astronauts came to visit for a year or two, bringing additional species of animals like chickens, ducks, and sheep. Their cargo included seeds for bamboo, corn, spinach, potatoes, and other hearty crops. These visiting astronauts also brought new technology for more efficient harvesting of oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Together, the astronauts mined for ores, trapped gasses, and learned many secrets about Mars.

About the Book
The illustrator of the book “Martian Christmas” is Sarah Rudder. She is a part time free-lance graphic designer and a full-time college student at her local community college. She is currently seeking a degree in Graphic Design with an Emphasis on Management and Leadership.
In addition to her studies, she enjoys being in several school organizations such as Student Government Association, Art Club, and the Student Ambassadors Program at National Park Community College. Once she finishes her degree, she plans to begin a long-time career in graphic design.
As she has many talents, Sarah’s long-term goal is to use the skills she is blessed with to create a better world through art.

About the Author
Chrystal Tapp was born and raised in Hot Springs National Park Arkansas. She has a master’s in performing arts from New York University and over a quarter of a century as a technology professional ranging in positions from Software Developer in Test to Business Continuity Analyst and IT Strategist. She has dabbled in writing ballets, musicals, and films.
She has always believed that if it can be imagined then it can be created. As a natural extension of her experience, she takes her first attempt at writing a science fiction children’s story to inspire the imagination of children to create a wonderful future.
