Silence filled Seattle. For a split second while sitting in the Seattle airport, Freddy not only heard the thoughts in his head but the thoughts of the people around him. They all were thinking the same thing as they were all prepared for what was next. As it began to get warmer, fumarolic gases filled the room. The earth began to shake and roar. Looking out the large glass windows at the airport. Freddy could see black smoke and red fire covered the Seattle Skyline canvas. In terror, they all watched the space needle go first as it got covered in flames and burned. It was going to be a matter of time before the chaos reached the airport. People ran frantically through the airport’s terminal, screaming in fear as they trampled over one another in purse to the nearest exit. To their surprise, the doors were locked, and they were trapped. As the airport began to get hotter, sweat began to drip down Freddy’s face. Freddy began to see more fire, but it was in the airport this time, instead of resisting his fate. He froze and stared the flames in the eyes as the fire began to caress his skin and hug his body. "We will begin boarding in 15 minutes for Flight 2471 to Anchorage, AK," the flight attendant announces. A subtle bang followed the announcement as Freddy's laptop fell out of his lap onto the floor. He quickly picked up the computer from the floor. Besides almost losing his computer, the interruption came at the perfect time because he was on the verge of a panic attack, lost in his thoughts thinking about a potential Pompeii event in Seattle.
As he is sitting in the airport, he is suddenly filled with mixed emotions as he stares out the Seattle airport window. It's not because this is his first time flying or even being in the Seattle airport. He has worked on the client he is traveling to for the last three years. The root cause of the mixed emotions is Mount Rainer. As he stares out the window, he sees this beautiful massive object covered in pure white snow, and one usually would have opposite emotions gazing out at something so beautiful. Still, he is terrified because the mountain is a large active stratovolcano. Even though the mountain has not produced a significant eruption in the past 500 years, it is still an active volcano and will have future eruptions. He knows this because he searched the internet for more information about the mountain during his layover in Seattle. He is infatuated with researching and learning facts about anything that piques his interest. As he continues to think and feel these mixed emotions, the baffling thing is he is not a stranger to these emotions, and he has become a custom to these emotions from working in the accounting profession. He is terrified at times of the unknown and potentially new challenges each day and amazed and excited about the unknown and new potential challenges each day.
"We will begin boarding in 5 minutes for Flight 2471 to Anchorage, AK," the flight attendant announces. Besides his infatuation with doing research and learning facts, he has also always enjoyed daydreaming since he was young. He envisioned building his city on the Mississippi River growing up. His Shangri-La included all his favorite skyscrapers and restaurants from every city he liked seeing in person or on TV. But nowadays, he usually daydreams about adding value and solutions to his personal and professional life. "Wha Wha Wha" the flight attendant announces something else on the intercom, but this time he didn't just catch it due to being lost in his thoughts. As he redirected his focus, he decided now would be the perfect time to run to the restroom before boarding the plane.
The smell of grilled beef and coffee filled the air in the terminal. Grabbing a quick bite would be a great idea, but Freddy doesn't have enough time, and the B gate has minimal food options between two burger places, pizza, and a coffee spot. Usually, burgers or pizza would be great options, but this is his 5th week traveling within two months, and his body is craving a home-cooked meal and food a little less greasy. Before he closed his laptop, he marked the why campaign email he received from the firm on Friday as unread to look over it again later at the hotel. The firm is doing a why campaign to create a recruiting message to encourage high school and college students to choose public accounting and why Williams LLP is the firm to start their career. Williams LLP is a top 10 Certified Public Accountant firm that provides accounting, auditing, financial and consulting services to nonprofit, private and public businesses as well as government agencies
The firm mentioned it didn’t want to hire a marketing firm to create the message in the email. They wanted it to be organic and from within the firm. The incentive is the individual who wins, their entire office will receive a $5k bonus. He contemplated should he even participate in the contest. After five years in public accounting, is this what he wants to do long-term just because there are so many other great professions out there that seem so cool and offer many great benefits and perks. While he is still young, should he make a move to give those other professions or opportunities a shot before he crosses the Rubicon in his career?
