Besitos de Lejitos is a book that was inspired by the love of parents for their children. When the pandemic of 2020 came, many students stayed home from school. When children began to reenter schools soon after, parents, educators and children from around the world were entering into the unexpected. No one really knew what to expect once students returned to brick and mortar schools. The courage it took to come back was one of the greatest loves I have ever witnessed. This book is dedicated to anyone who lost loved ones through these unprecedented times.

A picture book for children, Besitos de Lejitos, Kisses from a Distance shares the story of a little girl going back to school as her mother gives her reminders to keep her safe. Written in both Spanish and English, author Noemi Mendez celebrates the courage it took for all to return to in-person education.
About the Author
Noemi Mendez, an educator, has a passion for writing children’s books. She lives in Des Moines, Iowa, with her husband, Ronnie, and their cat, Misha Mittens. Mendez loves spending time with her three grown children Angie, Everett and Charisma.
