Leo & Lou

The story of Leo and Lou, field mice brother and sister, will foster children’s imagination, as they hear and see the images of Leo’s and Lou’s lives within their family. One of the fun things Leo and Lou do is to see themselves dressed up like persons they might like to be when they grow up: a painter, a writer, a policeman, a fireman, a dancer, a nurse, a pilot, a chef or cook, a priest. That’s how they imagine themselves in this story. Since most children at some time in their childhood think about what they might like to be when they grow up, they may easily identify with Leo and Lou. Furthermore, when they are first read this story by parents, guardians, friends, they will hear important words—“Be what you want to be.” In other words, their own desires for themselves are very important, a major emphasis toward the end of Leo’s and Lou’s story. In addition, along with Leo and Lou, they discover that fun and happiness are very positive things for children to experience.
