I also saw something happen. I don't know when. I just know what I saw. I saw a monster come hurtling through the blackness, not a living monster, but a piece of matter, iron, dirt, rock. It passed between the earth and the moon and as it did, I felt something electric or magnetic, and I saw a ring of fire set the earth alight with a flash of lasting blueness, so that so strangely, the earth looked like a drop of shimmering, burning water floating in a black, empty sky.
