"So, why have I asked you to come here? Here’s the answer in a nutshell: I want to use your talents to elect a person loyal to me as President of the United States. I know that this will take some time, but I would like this to occur no later than the 2024 election in fifteen years. I want you to do all things necessary to put our person in the Presidency no matter how much money it costs.”
Having dropped the bombshell, Salvador looked at Professor for his reaction. Though trying to act composed, Salvador could see that Professor was shaking slightly and that his face had lost a little bit of its color.
After a moment of reflection, Professor responded, "“Winning an election is not the only way to become President of the United States. I want to make sure we are on the same page as to how far you want me to go to do ‘all things necessary’?”
Salvy paused only a second before responding, “By all things necessary, I mean all things necessary. My only caveat is that whatever you do cannot be traceable back to me. Otherwise, there are no limits.”
“To be clear then,” said Professor, “a sitting President can be replaced in a number of circumstances. He can be removed from office for cause and there are also a variety of succession policies in the event POTUS is incapacitated or dies. In the event one of our candidates is not elected President, am I allowed to use succession strategies to obtain our objective?”
“Let’s not discuss this in vague generalities,” said Salvador. “What are you thinking?”
“Here’s the bottom line,” replied Professor. “If our candidate is not elected, am I allowed to pursue killing the President as a fallback strategy?”
