“…he (my dad) bought a farm near the small village of North Lancaster, Ontario, which is located very close to the Quebec/Ontario border, north-east of Cornwall. My parents were not intending to move into it right away, but when I discovered that Cornwall housed a branch of the University of Ottawa, I kind of hurried things along and had us moving in by Labour Day Weekend…I had registered at the University just a few days before we made our move, and in October, 1972, I began working toward my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. “My soon-to-be husband, Luc, had also registered at U of O. Once we met, our fast-track friendship, courtship, and marriage were in play. We had our first date in November and were married April 23rd, 1973, about 6 months after our first ‘Hello!’ I was twenty-three, and he was twenty-one. You may wonder why we were in such a hurry. Well, I have to admit that in those days, at twenty-three years of age, motherhood was on my mind, but Luc was just twenty-one, and he was not ready. However, our rush to the altar was actually for a different reason. Let me explain.”

About the Book
After fifty years of living with another person, the experiences you have shared turn into fond memories. Even some of the difficult times can bring on a smile today, as you look back. What might have been hard in our past becomes a story worth telling. As my reader follows our history, I hope he or she will be both entertained and inspired.
About the Author
Kathryn Acheson Chartrand started her teaching career in 1969, at 19 years-of-age. Throughout her over 30 years, she taught every subject, except French, at every elementary grade level from Kindergarten to Grade 8. While teaching, giving birth, and caring for 3 beautiful children, she pursued, over a 20-year span, 1 course at a time, higher education through the University of Ottawa. In December, 1992, she earned her BA in Psychology. Following her retirement, her husband and she moved from Cornwall to Ottawa, Ontario. Throughout the past 14 years she has self-published 3 books: Muriel's Footprint, a compilation of poems her mother wrote over many years of her life; Isle of View Forever, Too, a true account of her parents' relationship based on her perception and opinions; and Children: Our Future Leaders, 4 short fictitious children's stories. Journey of a Lifetime is her fourth literary contribution. It is based on the wise and often unwise decisions her husband and she made throughout their years.
