For centuries, the Cumberland Gap provided native Americans with a path across the Appalachian Mountain Range.
Later, colonists along the Atlantic coast followed the Gap from North Carolina into Kentucky and lands to the West.
Walker City, home to the College of the Hills, developed around the point where Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia converge. A new president of the College, Dr. Willow Jackson, is an alumni of the College, as well as the great-great granddaughter of the college’s founder. She has arrived to lead the College into the 21st century.

About the Book
The Gap is a story set in Walker City, a town located in the southern Appalachian region known as The Cumberland Gap. The town of Walker City developed and grew around the exact Point where the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia converge, making it a tri-state community. The Point marks the center of the town square. The Point is also identified by the statue of Dr. Thomas Walker of Virginia. The statue is surrounded by signage pointing to the 3 State sections of Walker City.
About the Author
The Gap is the third in what will become a four-novel series by the author, Highlander. With family roots in southern Appalachia, Highlander penned his first novel, One Wore Gray / One wore Blue, set in the period before and after the American Civil War. The second novel, The Big Road, tells the story of a family living among the coal fields of east Kentucky until economic hard times resulted in the family moving North.
